| The
act of folding, often associated with clothing,
closets, and drawers, is frequently performed
in our bedrooms. Using this nomenclature simply
as a way to describe the exercise of nesting underlies
its practical utilization as an alternative way
to think about bedroom tectonics and its daily
nuances. Folding and unfolding could easily reference
the act of dressing or undressing; suggesting
in part that folding is the construction of laying
or bending as to cover one part over another.
In considering this syntax, our ability to fold
or become folded into material garments and unfold
from then informs this A2Sx design and drives
its unique form and programmatic function. It
was our objective to create an object that in
essence unfolded itself from contemporary furniture
lines and moreover was responsible for informing
those acts that construct bedroom identity and
program. |
